Be better
/Am I enough? We live in this culture today that is telling us that we are never enough. We never have enough time, we never get enough done, we don’t have enough friends or followers or whatever. Living just an ordinary life isn’t enough anymore, or at least that is what culture tells us. There are so many times that I look at what is going on or not going on in my life and base my worth on that. That I base how valuable I am in life in terms of what stage of life I am in. By the world's standards I should be married with multiple children by now and I am not, I should not be driving the same car I was driving in college, but she is still purring like a kitten… haha I should not be living in the same town that I grew up in. That there is so much more, there is a bigger world and why are you not making a bigger impact. Oh my, there is so much noise in this world that is fighting for our attention. There are so many things that we compare ourselves to but who says we have to do that, who says we have to live that way…no one does. Somewhere along the way I picked up the toxic habit of trying to live up to someone else's standard which only leaves me feeling that I don’t ever measure up.
By no means am I an expert at it and I am pretty sure that it is going to be a lifelong journey but I am learning to throw off the “what others think” mentality, to quit the crazy cycle of comparing myself. To stop the want of more just because it's what the “world” thinks I should have, look like, or be and I am practicing the daily habit of putting on the mindset of who God says I am, of what I want to be, of what I want to accomplish, of the purpose on this earth that I was created specifically to fulfill. Not because the world says I should but because I say I should. There are so many things that fight for our attention, make sure you are giving your utmost attention to the things that really matter, that bring you joy, to the things that make you a better you, to the things that help you reach your goals because you are enough just as you are. Right in this very moment, wherever you are sitting you are enough. You don’t have to work harder, get healthier, do more to be enough… you, right now are enough. Choose to believe that today my friend!
