Whats next...
/Do you find yourself rushing through the days always thinking about what you have to do next or what you wish would happen next. That feeling of complacency were you just wish the next season of life would hurry itself up a little… if we are not careful we will constantly be wishing for the what's next instead of learning to be content in the present. Don't hear what I am not saying, I am not saying that it is okay to just give up trying to be better or become more. But I think culture, as a whole, does a pretty good job at making us feel like we should always be striving for more or for what's next. Society is a mastermind at making us feel like we should always be striving for the next best thing or next opportunity instead of learning to be content in the life we have. There is something to be said about being present in the moment. Not every season in life is going to filled with easy things, filled with exciting and spontaneous moments, or brave new adventures and that's okay. Some seasons are hard, sad, full of suffering and growth that only comes as a result of going through really hard things.
Here is what I know, there is a time and a season for everything. That if you are not liking the season you are in maybe start asking yourself if there is a reason for this season in your life. Is there something you can learn or an area you can grow in? Some seasons are really wonderful and others are a little or a lot more difficult. I have had this image lately of this life sort of being like the process of creating a diamond. A diamond doesn’t start out all shiny, clear and sparkly… its starts out as a dirty rock and it takes a lot of hard work, cleaning and refining for it to eventually evolve into that beautiful stone. The process is time consuming and tedious but the outcome is beautiful! I write this probably more for myself, but dear friend, may we look at all of the hard things in our lives as a catalyst to the wonderful diamond that we are becoming. Let’s not discredit the difficult but find peace and assurance in the fact that it won’t last forever, that a new season is coming. Let's give ourselves some grace and be patient with ourselves that it's going to take some time but to just keep moving. That this too shall pass.
